Go Green

A recent study by Carnegie Mellon University's Green Design Institute found that shopping online consumes less energy and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 35 percent compared to shopping at traditional retail stores.

The study documented energy use and carbon dioxide emissions generated through the complete cycle of buying a product using a medium size company distribution and delivery channel as well as through traditional retail store operations. In fact, the study showed that 65 percent of total carbon dioxide emissions generated by shopping at retail outlets related to consumers driving to and from the stores.

How can you find products suited for a greener lifestyle?

Here are some tips (we can get benefits from):

  • If you're buying electronics, check if the product is EPEAT-certified. The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) rates computer products to assess eco-friendliness. Products are usually rated as Bronze, Silver or Gold (this's applied in USA).
